If you’re new to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church you will find that our services are reverent and respectful. We come into the presence of the almighty, holy God to receive His gifts in Word and sacrament. It is for that reason that we call our Sunday services Divine Service. During this time God is serving us, giving us the forgiveness of sins through the Word preached, and through His body and blood, given to us in the Lord’s Supper. We make use of the historic liturgy, by which we hear the Word of God and speak His Word back to Him in prayer and praise.

We sing the hymns that the church has handed down to us through the generations. These hymns teach us the Word of God, assist us in our prayers, and are also a part of our thanksgiving to God for His gracious gifts.

The Lutheran Church is a sacramental church, celebrating the two sacraments that Jesus handed down to us: baptism (Matt 28:19) and the Lord’s Supper (Matt 26:26-29, Mark 14:22-25, Luke 22:19-20, and 1 Corinthians 11:23-25).

Our church practices Closed Communion, that is: it is our desire that all people would commune with us, but out of high regard for the Lord’s Word, we believe that unity in teaching comes before unity in communion. If you are not a member of a Lutheran Church-Canada congregation or one of our sister churches we ask, therefore, that you would refrain from communion.
